What are the benefits of getting veneers?

Traditional veneers offer many benefits. For starters, veneers are custom designed for and by each patient, so you can ensure your veneers enhance the appearance of your smile while still maintaining a natural appearance. While veneers require some reshaping of the teeth they are applied to, they don’t require as much reshaping as crowns do, so more of the natural tooth is allowed to remain. Veneers are also stain resistant, which means they will retain their bright white appearance for many years with no additional whitening services required.

Why should I get veneers?

Some patients choose to get custom veneers simply because they don’t like the way their smile looks and they want to improve it. For other patients, veneers can more or less fix problems such as:

  • Discolored Teeth
  • Worn-Down Teeth
  • Chipped or Broken Teeth
  • Misshapen or Uneven Teeth
  • Large Gaps in Between Teeth

Because veneers are considered more of a cosmetic treatment, they’re usually only used to repair teeth in the front of the mouth. If you want to repair a molar or a tooth that doesn’t show when you smile, we’ll probably recommend getting a crown instead. Dental crowns blend in with the surrounding teeth and they tend to be more affordable than veneers.

Who should not get veneers?

If you want to get porcelain veneers custom-made for your teeth, our team will be more than happy to make that happen for you! However, there are a few things you should consider before going down the veneer route. The main thing to keep in mind is that traditional veneers are not reversible because the enamel on the teeth must be shaved down, so they are considered a permanent treatment. Your teeth and gums must be healthy before veneers can be placed, so if you need a significant amount of dental work done, your dentist will recommend waiting on veneers.

If you do decide veneers aren’t for you, we’d like to invite you to explore our other cosmetic options, including professional teeth whitening and Invisalign, which can also help you achieve the straighter or brighter smile that you’re looking for.
