Our Relaxing
Sedation Options

Whether you experience dental anxiety at routine dentist appointments or you have an extensive dental treatment coming up, we have a variety of sedation options that can help make your appointment fly by. Our sedatives are safe and effective, and we always determine the best option for each patient by taking the treatment and the patients’ physiology into consideration.

IV Sedation

IV sedation administers sedatives through an IV so the medication goes directly into the vein, making it a very fast-acting sedation option. The level of sedative can be controlled by the dentist, so the amount of sedative used can cause the patient to be comfortable and relaxed or it can be used to put the patient into more of a dream-like, but still conscious, state. Patients generally have very little to no memory of the procedure and must have a friend or family member drive them home following their appointment.

Nitrous Oxide

Nitrous oxide, commonly referred to as laughing gas, is a mild sedative option that can help you remain relaxed during minor dental procedures. The colorless, sweet-smelling gas is dispensed using a mask that fits over the nose so it can be inhaled during the dental treatment. One of the benefits of using nitrous oxide is that it is fast-acting but the effects also subside within a few minutes of removing the mask and breathing normal oxygen, and patients are safe to drive themselves home once the effects have worn off. Laughing gas reduces pain and anxiety, making it a great choice for patients who experience dental anxiety.
